Questions people ask before they buy
Shipping, pickup, condition, returns, and everything else that comes up before someone reserves a piece.
- How much does shipping cost, and how long does it take?
- Small and medium pieces ship anywhere in the US. When we confirm your reservation by email, we include the shipping cost based on weight and box size along with the item total. Most orders leave the shop within two business days of that confirmation. Large furniture is pickup or local delivery only, and we will tell you which before you reserve anything.
- Can I pick something up in person instead?
- Yes, local pickup is free. Reserve online and we hold the piece at the shop, then confirm by email within one business day with a pickup window during regular hours.
- How does condition grading work?
- Every piece gets one of three grades. Excellent means clean, complete, and working, with any wear hard to find. Good means honest use is visible somewhere, a scuff, a faded mark, nothing that changes how the piece works. Fair means there is a real flaw and we name it plainly in the listing, priced to match. We would rather under-grade a piece than have it show up worse than described.
- Is everything cleaned and tested before it is listed?
- Yes. Dishes and glassware are washed, wood is cleaned and oiled, textiles are laundered. Anything electric is tested on our bench before it goes on the floor, run for real rather than just plugged in to see if a light comes on.
- What is your return policy?
- If a piece arrives, or turns out in person, different from how it was described, contact us within seven days and we will refund it or make it right, your choice. Because everything is one of one, we cannot promise a replacement, but we will always take back a misdescribed item. Beyond that, sale is final once you have had the chance to look a piece over, since there is only one of anything we sell.
- Can you hold something for me?
- We can hold a piece for up to 48 hours without a reservation if you want to think it over or arrange payment. Call or email and we will pull it off the floor listing until the hold expires.
- Are prices negotiable?
- Prices are set close to what a piece is actually worth in its condition, not padded to leave room for haggling. On large lots or several pieces at once, ask, we can often work something out.
- What payment methods do you accept?
- Online we do not charge a card at checkout, since every piece is one of one and needs a quick confirm first. Once we confirm your reservation by email, we send a secure payment link and you can pay by card. In the shop we take cards, cash, and tap to pay.
- What happens if something arrives damaged?
- Photograph the box and the item before you unpack any further and email us within 48 hours of delivery. We refund the piece and the shipping cost, since we cannot ship a duplicate of something that only existed in that one condition.
